This feels sacrilegious to share
But maybe that's just my Catholic upbringing. Sensual Inventory #1
Last week I didn’t go to my studio at all. Between snow storms and a stomach bug, it just wasn’t in the cards. My mind wanted to beat me up about this but my body said, “slow down.”
To the woman who finds it challenging to slow down, know this:
Creation is still alive when you are at rest.
Creation has cycles, all of which have different flavors and frequencies of feeling and doing.
Creation is part receiving inspiration (sometimes that looks like slowing down) and part making (this can also look slow). Both are necessary parts of the process.
You are a literal creation and a creator.
Weekly Sensual Roundup
A look back at my week through each sense. I thought this would be a fun way to share what I’ve been up to, things inspiring me, and what I’m currently loving.
What did I see? Last night I watched a film called ‘Saltburn’ and um, it got stranger and sexier by the second. Someone on Instagram suggested it and without really knowing much, I had zero idea what to expect, except that an actor from Euphoria was in it. I think that’s a good way to approach life anyways.
What did I hear? I’ve been vibing hard with Sabrina Claudio lately. I’ve heard her music before but this week I went in deep. Oh yea, and we can’t forget about those 2 new Beyoncé songs. I guess I’m bout to saddle up and take my horse to Texas. Here’s a playlist I made for you to move slow:
What did I touch? I tried something new last week. I always find this a great practice to face our fears and let it be bad. I went indoor rock climbing and hey, I made it to the top of the wall a few times. Before climbing up those tiny obscure blobs secured to a wall, I was like, “you want me to go where now?” Once I faced the fear, I found myself spidering (that’s definitely not a word) up the wall. *pats myself on the back*
What did I smell? A ritual bath filled with rose, lavender, and eucalyptus, oh my! There’s nothing like dropping into a warm and bubbly ritual bath. Highly recommend.
What did I taste? My best friend insisted I have a spicy mocha latte at Southdown Coffee, down the street from my studio. Reluctantly, I tried this $7 drink. I was pleased to gulp down a heavenly rich velvety liquid with just a touch of fire.
The Scarlet Woman
It feels sacrilegious to share this photo.
But maybe that's just my Catholic upbringing speaking.
I am truly so honored to tell this story with Ashley of @beautymarkscreative for The Red Experience exhibition on 3/12. Are you coming?
At some point, Ashley and I found out we share a very similar story, which I won't go into detail about on here…yet.
Every woman has a story to tell. Many times, our stories overlap and weave together in delicious harmony. When we share our story, waves ripple through time, shifting generational patterns and healing the hearts of anyone who resonates.
Telling your story can look so many different ways. Around here, we make art.
This is only a tiny piece of the story. To see the final works titled, 'The Scarlet Woman' join us at The Red Experience on 3/12 in Commack, LI, NY ❤️🔥
Or ask me how to tell YOUR story through the art of embodied photography.
